Liverpool for families
The range of options for activities in and around the city centre, whether it be for entertainment, fitness, or extracurricular activities, make it a great place to raise a family. Taking up a sport in their free time or learning an instrument at a private tutor is a great way for your kids to build confidence in a fun and stimulating way.
Compared to other major cities in the north of England, Liverpool has a relatively low crime rate. And Liverpool is known for its accepting and inclusive culture, making it a welcoming area to move into from outside of the city or from local suburbs.
Outstanding Ofsted reports in Liverpool City Centre
In the city centre, you have access to two local schools with the highest possible grade from Ofsted: St Vincent de Paul Catholic Primary, and LIPA Sixth Form College.
For a school to receive an outstanding rating by Ofsted, they need to be best in class at delivering a stellar curriculum and ensuring that their students are set up perfectly for their next stage of learning development.
Fortunately for families living in the city centre, your home will also likely fall into the catchment area of three more well-respected schools located outside of the city centre: The Belvedere Academy, Archbishop Blanch, and The Blue Coat.
The Blue Coat caters for both boys and girls aged 11-18, and The Belvedere Academy and Archbishop Blanch are both great options for girls’ only secondary schools.
LIPA Sixth Form
LIPA is quite literally a Liverpool institution. Since its founding by Paul McCartney and Mark Featherstone-Witty in 1995, the school has been on a growing trajectory and now has facilities to support learners from age 4 all the way to 20+.
Creative individuals in the city and beyond have consistently been drawn to LIPA and the experiences that it can provide for those wanting to make a career out of dancing, acting, directing or being a musician. So much so that Liverpool’s percentage of employees working in the arts is almost double that of the national average – 4.1% compared to 2.6%.
At LIPA, students are not only supported through traditional strands of education such as maths and English, but there is a massive focus on the performing arts with students frequently attending masterclass sessions with professional dancers, actors, directors and musicians.
