Is Walton, Liverpool a Nice Place to Live?
Outside of the city centre, Liverpool residents have plenty of options when it comes to communities to live in. South of the city you have the likes of Wavertree, Toxteth, and Aigburth, while north of the city you have Norris Green, Anfield and Litherland among others.
One of the most popular residential areas in north Liverpool is Walton. Sometimes referred to as Walton-on-the-Hill, this area spans a large geographic area that bridges the areas of Bootle, Anfield and Norris Green.
But despite it being one of the most populous areas, is Walton a nice place to live? Find out what our estate agents in Walton, Liverpool think here.
What is life like in Walton?
Life in Walton is much like other primarily residential areas of Liverpool and Merseyside. Houses are primarily terraced, with some sections of housing built before 1900 – one of only three areas in the country able to boast this. But as is the case with the rest of Liverpool, the best part about living in Walton is the people.
Walton is a community where people look out for each other. Nothing else demonstrates this like the divide in the city between Red and Blue. In Walton, the divide is closer than anywhere else. You can be a stone’s throw from both Anfield and Goodison, and yet families and friends come together and look out for each other regardless of their allegiances. It really is the epitome of what Liverpool stands for.
Aside from the benefits that come with living in the community of people found in Walton, families living in Walton have access to plenty of places to eat, play, and shop. County Road is almost a one-stop shop for everything that you could need to get by with multiple cheap supermarkets available for day-to-day use.
Walton for families
If you are moving to Walton with your family, then there are a few things you should be on the lookout for.
First, depending on the age of your family, then you should see what schools are available nearby. We have dived into what the schools are like in Walton so see here if you want to know more in detail. But to summarise, Walton has some very good schools for children of all ages. Some of these come with outstanding Ofsted reports and you can trust that your children will get a high-quality education at any of them.
Apart from schools, you should also pay attention to what facilities or amenities are close by that you and your family can take advantage of. Of course, you can easily travel to other parts of Liverpool from Walton because of its excellent transport links, but sometimes it’s nice to have activities on your doorstep too.
In Walton, you have Stanley Park and Walton Hall Park which present you with an abundance of green spaces and children’s play areas. At Walton Hall Park, you will find a Lifestyles gym and outdoor all-weather football pitches that are floodlit. This makes the area a great choice if your family are active – and ties into the area’s reputation considering its links to Liverpool and Everton football clubs.
Crime in Walton
And finally, safety is important if you are planning a move with your family. Fortunately, despite its reputation in other parts of the country, Liverpool actually has better crime statistics than other big, urban cities around the country like Burnley, Manchester and Newcastle.
Within that, Walton does not have the highest crime rate in Liverpool. Depending on the area of Walton, the statics could be as low as 43rd out of 69 areas.
As with any urban area, residents should take certain precautions during day-to-day life in order to keep as safe as possible, but living in Walton should not be a cause for concern for families looking to make the move to the area for the first time.
